What IS the #1 Skill You Need for Your Coaching Business?

It’s not what you think!

I was chatting with a colleague who coaches corporate leaders and she told me something that made a big impression on me that I want you to hear.

She said:

The #1 skill looked for in leaders is SELF AWARENESS.

Well, the same applies to coaches. You are the leader of your niche and your business. You support your client to self leadership.

But when you’re stressed trying to attract clients and earn, crossing tasks off the list and rushing around, frustration and disillusion can set in. You cannot lead yourself from that place.

Whenever I have taken the time to raise awareness about

it’s helped me take a leap of happiness and income in my business.

I can see myself from a different plane than everyday business mode. And, with this heightened sense of self, the daily challenges fall away and I reach back into my creative spirit to nurture my own genius.

Your Work with a Capital ‘W’

Entrepreneurship is a rich territory to do your work with a capital ‘W’:

It’s a form of self-expression that happens to also be your livelihood.

Having a coaching business is an ongoing spiritual opportunity in the sense that the greater your presence, the greater your impact.

Yes, coaching is about helping others, but it is also about helping yourself reach greater levels of potential.

It’s not about striving. It’s about relaxing into yourself.

Within a quiet space of doing nothing and gently asking and answering powerful questions, you can feel into an expansive part beyond judgment.

Self-awareness opens the doors of possibility. It keeps you grounded and lifts your spirit—not just about material success.

But DO IMAGINE how that will juice up your business, your experiences with clients, and help you to earn well.

4 Powerful Questions and an Invitation to You

Here are 4 out of a dozen or more questions I ask coaches in The BIG THINK:

  1. What 3 words describe how you’ve shown up most of the time in your business?
  2. Where in your business have you felt resistance creep in? What is that telling you?
  3. What specific values have driven you and what values would you prefer to GUIDE you now?
  4. What have you learned or accomplished over the last year that makes you proud of yourself? And, how can you leverage those wins?

Questions like these open your mind, help you see yourself and your path clearly.
