Here’s a wild idea … marketing your coaching business can be an outlet for your self expression — a way to become a thought leader and gain the respect of your peers.

Imagine getting continuous feedback that the content you share is not only valuable but game changing for your coaching audience.

And, imagine ideal coaching clients, who are 100% ready to invest in their future with your coaching, FIND YOU and will even go on a wait list to work with you at high-ticket prices.

That’s what having your own podcast can do for you.

Look, I’m not trying to sell podcast training here … just uncovering the many unexpected benefits of podcasting for coaches.

My nearly 6-year-old podcast has absolutely revolutionized my business and also given me the greatest joy I’ve ever found in my work because it reliably brings me ideal clients.

Let’s talk about why podcasting is the best marketing for coaches.

Hey Coaches!

Reach More People in Your Coaching Audience with Podcasting

There are over 460 MILLION podcast listeners worldwide. That’s a lot of people, ya’ll! In the last few years, podcasting has grown 20% per year. It reaches nearly all age groups and hundreds of countries.

Why do you think that is?

Well, to start, it’s a hands-free and eyes-free way of learning and being entertained. People can do something else while listening, such as driving, walking the dog, doing household chores, exercising.

And, people become dedicated to certain shows and podcast hosts. Many will binge listen to multiple episodes in one sitting.

For 8 years I published a weekly blog and, at first, it brought me clients but has never been as impactful as my podcast. People just don’t read as much as they used to.

3 Reasons Podcasting Helps Coaches Thrive

#1 Podcasting Boosts Your Credibility — Similar to writing a book, when you publish weekly content on relevant topics to your coaching audience and niche, you appear instantly credible in your space. That is a huge advantage for coaches who don’t start with a robust network of potential clients.

#2 Podcasting Build You Up as a Thought Leader — There’s nothing more powerful than creating your own knowledge capital — your own perspectives, ideas, systems and approaches. Your podcast becomes part of your coaching craft.

Anyone can do this. It simply takes a bit of mental organization.

Once you tap into what you know and what you think, you have a skill that can be leveraged in so many ways in your life and work.

When you put your own thoughts out into the world, your voice becomes a vehicle for your success.

And, people want thought leadership now more than ever.

In 2001, I was asked to write curriculum for Coach Training Alliance. I’d never done anything like that before and it changed the trajectory of my career as a coach. I realized I was good at expressing difficult concepts in easy-to-understand ways. And, I started mining my own thoughts to share with others.

You can give yourself a similar opportunity to grow and expand beyond who you are now if you decide to become a podcaster as a way to attract your ideal coaching clients!

#3 Podcasting Helps You to Become a Coach in High Demand — Think about the people you follow because you appreciate their perspective. Their content reliably resonates for you and gives you hope, inspiration and the power to move forward. And that may be the impetus for you to hire that person.

You could be the inspiration to a subset of your audience too. And a subset is all you need.

If you have 100 loyal followers of your podcast, you will have a steady stream of clients.

Episode 180 called Have You Found the Niche Within Your Niche is about finding your sweet spot in your coaching business, refining your niche in ever deepening layers to help you stand out in the crowd and gain market share.

Podcasting helps you deepen your niche and that’s a good thing

I’m not talking about being an influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers. A small but loyal following who sings your praises is all you need to make a difference in how many clients you enroll and keep and the referrals you get.

Become an Empowered Coach by Speaking Your Mind

The worst about launching your coaching business is waiting for something to happen. You are posting on socials, speaking around town, maybe doing some networking and … crickets.

When you add a podcast to your VISIBILITY STRATEGY, your voice whispers in the ears of your audience and you attract loyal listeners. They like your voice, your perspective, your approach. Ideal prospects like you.

And, when you provide weekly episodes with micro topics and a powerful takeaway – just one — suddenly you are building trust with your audience.

Trust is the first gateway to attracting high-ticket coaching clients.

Your podcast takes you further than posting articles or short videos because people can more easily access and consume an audio source of education, inspiration and entertainment than they can a visual method.

I blogged for 8 years. When I started it was an effective way to attract people to my website and some became clients. But over time, I noticed a decline in readership. The pandemic put another nail in the coffin of blogging. People gravitate to other sources of thought leadership now.

Podcasting lends a sense of intimacy to your content they can’t get through written words.

I’ve never aimed to be a celebrity but I can tell you it’s quite fun when people feel a sense of connection to you before you meet them!

When I have a Discovery Call with a coach, they often say: “You sound just like you do on your podcast!” That’s reassuring to them and goes a long way to inspire investment in my offers.

Beyond that, the big joy factor in podcasting is putting your voice out there.

You can say what you think and feel about your micro topics for your audience. It helps you separate out the most ideal clients for you and that’s a good thing.

Your voice is more than just sounds and words. It’s an integral part of who you are. When you speak up and speak out you’re stepping fully into your personal power. It’s almost impossible to be anything but authentic when you show up weekly with your voice on air.

I did not predict the satisfaction of putting my voice out there when I started podcasting. It’s a benefit that keeps on giving. And the positive feedback is confidence building. It’s nourishing to know that my guidance resonates with so many coaches. Some coaching training organizations suggest my podcast to their students.

I know I’m helping people who will never hire me. That’s okay with me. And I also know that people I’m meant to work with will hire me and we will begin our journey with a deeper understanding because of my show.

I want you to feel the joy of putting your voice OUT THERE, earning you respect and trust. I want you to enjoy having followers that sing your praises and become ideal clients who refer more to you.

Consider launching your own podcast. If I can do it, you can do it!
